SITLA Alternative Transportation Contest - 06/16/09

In conjunction with Governor Huntsman’s “Clear the Air” summer program to reduce pollution and save energy, SITLA will be holding its own contest this summer. The goal of our program is to encourage employees to get out of their cars and take alternative transportation mechanisms to work. This is open to all employees. On any day that you travel to work via alternate transportation, you can enter your name in the contest to win prizes. Every two weeks a name will be drawn and the winner will receive an energy saving related prize. The contest will begin July 1, 2009, so tune up your bike, get out your Trax pass and wash your running shoes!

Examples of alternate forms of transportation:
Bus - Trax - Carpool - Bicycle - Walking - Telecommute

Be Creative! If you have an alternate mood of travel that saves energy, use it!

You will be asked to submit a form with your name and the # of miles saved by not driving alone to work on that day. . The form looks like this:

We are asking that you calculate the miles saved so that we can determine the total energy savings and pollution reduced for SITLA every two weeks. These figures will then be submitted as part of our Think! Energy success stories to the Governor. The miles can add up fast - and the money saved on gasoline is an added bonus.

Employees at the main office:
Fill out a form each day you use alternative transportation and drop it in the labeled container located by Alice at the front desk. The forms will be located next to the container.

Employees at branch offices:
Send an email to Swallace@utah.gov (Sonja Wallace) with your name and the miles traveled each day you commute and Sonja will fill out the form for you.

If you have any questions, contact your Energy Team: Sonja Wallace and Jessica Kirby.

By working together we can save a whole lot of energy!
